Another very busy month in recruitment and yet more success for ourselves and companies in Sheffield. Mark Johnston from Kingfield Heath represented Sheffield well winning FD of the year for a Ltd company at the Sewell Moorhouse sponsored Yorkshire Finance Director Awards. It was an excellent evening hosted by the ex marine and explorer Monty Halls and was well represented with a number of South Yorkshire Finance Directors. I shared a table with John Hayward and Jonathan Clark from Pressure Technologies, their hard work seems to paying off with the share price performing well since their Aim Flotation in July. It shows that a well run business with the right products will perform well despite market turbulence.
It was great to see the appointment of ex Firth Rixson FD Neil Macdonald as Finance Director at AES Seal this week and their further funding from 3i. Both of these illustrate the seriousness of the company’s ambition to grow by 150% and it is good to see somebody from the local area back in a high profile position. I am currently working with a venture capital backed business in Sheffield to recruit a Finance Director, it is without doubt that the VC’s put a strong emphasis on getting the right Finance Director as custodians of their money.
On the back of strong business performance, the Sheffield office of Sewell Moorhouse has recently promoted Georgina Schofield to Consultant and externally recruited Simon Ensor from his previous role as in-house training and recruitment. Georgina is well known to many accountants in Sheffield during her 7 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Sewell Moorhouse has an excellent track record in developing and retaining staff and I look forward to seeing how they both progress over the coming years.
