Cliff SewellLeading financial and accounting recruitment consultancy, Sewell Moorhouse, is pleased to highlight positive times ahead for employers and job seekers in 2005, according to a recent survey. The survey reports that we can expect a 14% increase in UK employers looking to take on new staff in the first quarter of 2005 and the outlook is particularly good within our region. “Favourable results have been reported by employers in the South West, South East, Wales and Yorkshire & Humberside. Employers in London, the North West and the Midlands have reported flat hiring intentions for Q1 2005, while disappointing results have been recorded in the East.” (Employment Outlook Survey UK, conducted by Manpower).

Finance and Business Services is one of the sectors with the most optimistic results in terms of hiring prospects, where the forecast looks to be the most positive since 1997. Transport and Communications, Construction, Utilities, Manufacturing, Mining and Community and Social sectors also fare well in the survey.

Good news indeed for employers and job-seekers alike as we move into 2005. The message appears to be that now is the time to plan your recruitment drives and applications for the new year. The holiday is a good opportunity to consider your prospects and build your networks, to tidy up your CV or review your business plans. 2005 is already looking promising so set yourself measurable goals in line with your long-term vision and maximise from the opportunities ahead!

Sewell Moorhouse would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our clients, candidates and business partners a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
