Sheffield and district young accountant of the yearOn Friday 18 February 2005, the accolade of Sheffield Young Chartered Accountant of the Year was awarded at the Sheffield & District Chartered Accountants Students’ Society Annual Dinner.

Sponsored for the first time by leading accounting and financial recruitment consultancy, Sewell Moorhouse, the title of Sheffield Young Accountant of the Year was awarded to Biddy Hannon, from Hawsons, with Bob Horgan, (Hart Shaw), taking joint 2nd prize with Andy Slade, (PricewaterhouseCoopers). Prizes of Red Letter Day vouchers were awarded to the three winners.

Chris Hill, Training Partner at Hawsons said “We are delighted with Biddy’s success in the awards. She has worked very hard over the past 18 months at Hawsons both in her professional studies gaining first time passes and in her vocational work. We devote a large amount of time to staff training and development and it is great to see our employees get justly rewarded for their efforts.”

Mr Philip Hill, Joint Managing Director of Sewell Moorhouse, and a Chartered Accountant himself, said “This year’s event was a great success with strong competition all round. It’s good to be involved in recognising the strength and commitment of our up and coming accountants.”

The award is open to Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales students and to those who have completed their training contracts since February 2003.

The aim of the award is to celebrate the achievements of young chartered accountants both in and out of the office. Entrants are nominated by their training firms and are judged on professional achievements, technical competence and qualifications as well as character and conduct.
