Congratulations to David Hanby, Financial Controller of IMI Cornelius (UK) Ltd! He has won first prize in the Sewell Moorhouse ‘Think You Know Football Competition’, and scooped £750 to boot. He is pictured here being presented with his prize cheque by Philip Hill and Justin Barber of Sewell Moorhouse.
Runners up, each receiving £125, were Paul Duffin of Smith Cooper in Alfreton and Mike Ormondroyd of Horwath Clark Whitehill, Leeds.
At the start of the 2004-05 season, all competition entrants had to do was predict the teams finishing in the top three and bottom three of the top two English Football Divisions, and they have since followed their progress throughout the season online at www.sewellm.co.uk.
The winner at the end of each month was awarded a bottle of champagne, but the destination of the final prize was not decided until the last minutes of the Match of the Season - with West Bromwich’s escape and Crystal Palace’s demise sealing David’s victory.
Winner David Hanby was delighted with the result. He said “It’s been a really exciting competition, and the league table has changed significantly each month, so nothing was ever a sure thing. The win happens to coincide with my 25th Wedding Anniversary, so I’ve decided to take my wife to Paris for a first class romantic weekend!”
Philip Hill, Joint MD of Sewell Moorhouse said “The competition has attracted a lot of attention, and we’re gearing up for next season’s entries now, in preparation for the 2005-06 football season. We’re anticipating 1,000 entries this time around, so it will be very competitive. It’s great fun though. We run a duplicate competition internally and it promotes a competitive spirit amongst the team – to say the least!"
The competition is open to the finance community across Yorkshire and surrounding regions, so don’t miss the opportunity to enter next season’s competition. Once again, there’s £1000 of prize money on offer, and all you have to do is accurately predict the teams you think will finish in the top three and bottom three of the top two English Football Divisions. Entry is free, and once you have applied, Sewell Moorhouse will email you once a month throughout the season with a progress report. Each month’s table topper will win a bottle of champagne.
To apply, either email football@sewellm.co.uk to request an entry form, or click here to apply on line.
